1.1 Background of the Study
Community volunteerism has always been a vital aspect of societal development, particularly in regions where governmental infrastructure and resources may be limited. In Lafia East Local Government Area (LGA) of Nasarawa State, volunteering plays an essential role in local development efforts, ranging from education initiatives to health campaigns. Photography, as a visual storytelling tool, has the power to amplify the impact of volunteerism by capturing the spirit and importance of community service. The visual representation of volunteers in action can serve not only as a form of documentation but also as an inspirational tool, motivating others to engage in community activities. Through the lens of photography, volunteers’ contributions are visually celebrated, fostering a culture of volunteerism that transcends generations. This study explores how photography influences volunteerism in Lafia East LGA, analyzing how images can raise awareness and inspire more individuals to engage in volunteer activities.
